Art Work And Paintings by Enrico David And Zentai Girl
Enrico David is a famous London artist, with many creative art works. As a follower of him, although I don't have much chance to really see his works, I never miss his art works in magazines and internet, when the chance comes. Enrico was born in Ancona, Italy in 1966, and he's known mainly for working in drawing, sculpture and installation. He has created many unique figures, such as Cora, a la Bond babe, and they have a magic binding for me with my love for zentai suits and skin-tight costumes in my daily life.
Against the sweet candyfloss pinkish background, Cora has displayed a complicated intrigue with romantic and innocent feel. The body of Cora looks very sexual in my idea, with beautiful lines and best show of the naught, active figure, while the butterfly head is creating some mysterious feeling. Cora is created by mixed fibre on dyed canvas, at the size of 280*250cm, and a cool combination of traditional embroidery and the modern art in my eyes.
Another big canvas art work by Enrico that impressed me is the Stick of Rock. Enrico has selected the artistic elements from modern design and culture, and created his piece of works, a wonderful stage to show human dream and also give us some inspiration and insight. Stick of Rock is embroidery works on a dyed canvas, showing the fashion, culture and also the hand-made tradition. The figure Pucci-esque in the work is wearing a skin-tight female style zentai suits like costume, with colorful strips. Pucci-esque looks slender with a beautiful bodyline, and also conveys a mysterious feeling. However, together with the head the figure shows a complex gender, and the figure is embroidered on canvas, with a great space for viewers' imagination, about gender and bonding.
Enrico David's artistic works have been displayed internationally in many art exhibitions including the 2003 Venice Biennale, 'Monuments to the USA', Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts in San Francisco , 'Hard Candy' at Galerie Wieland in Berlin and 'The Best Book About Pessimism I Ever Read' at Kunstverein, Braunschweig. And his bsuction Cardigan 2009 installation was shortlisted for the Turner Prize. His wool work Agent is a traditional theatrical style warrior half knee down, with a mixed grey as background, and red lines to show the bodyline of the warrior. The overall creation has shown the strong power, and also minimize that, and created a hero with playboy feeling.
I still love Pucci-esque in Stick of Rock most, and because of that, once when I was shopping for lycra zentai costume, I found one with similar color strips. Although still looks much different from the real art, I still bought the suit and worn it often, just for fun. This reminds me and I hope to find more costumes following this style and floral patterns.
