An Overview of Mining Mills

Used SAG Mills; SAG mills, short for semi-autogenous grinding mill, are used to grind large rocks and steel balls. A SAG mill consists of a drum that keeps rotating in such a way that upon addition, the ore is grinded into fine powder. These mills are fairly short in length but have a very large diameter. They are used mainly for grinding ores of platinum, sold, silver, zinc, and the like.
Ball Mills; Ball mills are another type of commonly used grinding equipment. These mills are cylindrical in shape that can be filled with the grinding medium and the ore to be powdered; the cylinder is then made to rotate. Mostly, the grinding mediums in ball mills are steel balls, ceramic balls or sometimes, pebbles. Ball mills usually operate in a continuous manner. The ore is fed from one side and the powdered ore comes out from the other.
Hammer Mills; Another type of grinding equipment is hammer mill. These mills are very different from their ball counterparts but do have a drum. This drum has hammers mounted which can swing freely to crush the ore. The drum is then made to rotate at a very high speed, making the hammers swing freely and grinding the ore into fine particles.
Grinding equipment can be quite expensive and this is the reason it is always better to go for used equipment such used ball mills, used SAG mills, and the like. Used grinding equipment can be easily found at any grinding equipment dealers. However, no matter whether you need to buy used ball mills or used SAG mills, it is extremely important to get a fair idea about the condition of the used equipment before making any payment.
